AP Blog Suggestions for 9/27

  • Read “Reading & Guilty Pleasure,” an op/ed piece from the New York Times about literary vs. commercial fiction.  Reflect on the article (extend BEYOND what we’ve already said on the topic).
  • Do you REALLY understand irony?  Alanis Morrisette screwed everything up.  Read/listen to this article/podcast about the true nature of irony (not sarcasm, not snark, surely not just bad luck).  Reflect on it in your blog.
  • Everything we’ve read so far has been dark/depressing/violent. Is this the true nature of literary fiction?  If so, why?  If not, why would our literature anthology be so imbalanced?
